As well as his work in the theatre, Daniel has worked as a film critic for the Australian film website SWITCH. Along with reviews of current releases, he has also written retrospectives on classic films and hosts the podcast Ink & Paint: A Journey Through the Disney Animated Classics. His work has also appeared in Metro and Senses of Cinema.
Daniel also regularly hosts events, panels and Q&A's for AACTA.
SWITCH
SWITCH, launched by editor Charlie David Page in 2011, is an Australian film website focused on reviews of current new releases, retrospectives on classic films and other special interest articles. One of its original contributors, Daniel has been an active member of the SWITCH team, having published hundreds of reviews, including home entertainment reviews, as well as interviews with filmmakers such as Edgar Wright and Don Hahn. Daniel also appeared on the podcast SWITCHCAST, where he interviewed filmmakers such as Francis Lee and Mike Newell.
INK & PAINT
Daniel is the creator, writer and host of the Disney history podcast Ink & Paint: A Journey Through the Disney Animated Classics. Produced and edited by Alex Amster, this ongoing project looks at the artistic, historical and social context of the first sixty Disney animated feature films, combining research into the making of the films with interviews with a special guest from a profession related to the film in question. Such guests have included artists, psychologists, social historians, art historians, social workers, animal rights activists, foster parents, veterinarians and teachers.

HOST & MODERATOR
Since 2020, Daniel has worked with AACTA as host and moderator for a number of public events and Q&A's, both online and in-person. He is a regular host for members screenings and events in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and hosted a number of key events in AACTA Festival 2024.
